Achieving public safety without compromising artistic transparency.
Şişecam Glass Art Installations
In collaboration with Baymim, we provided structural engineering services for two landmark glass art installations developed for Şişecam, covering structural design support, engineering reviews, site inspections and installation supervision. Our scope extended beyond conventional structural design by integrating constructability, transportation, lifting and installation requirements into the engineering process, ensuring that every stage of fabrication and assembly could be executed safely and efficiently.
A key engineering objective was to achieve the required level of public safety without compromising the artistic vision of the installations. A performance-based design approach was adopted to preserve the transparency, elegance and visual impact of the glass structures while verifying their stability under wind, seismic and handling loads. Through close collaboration with the design and construction teams, the installations successfully balanced architectural expression with structural resilience, resulting in safe, durable and visually striking public artworks.
