Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Architecture Building

The building serving today as the Faculty of Architecture of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University was originally constructed between 1856 and 1859 as the Cemile Sultan Palace. Its original load-bearing system is masonry, with reinforced concrete elements integrated into the original system in later periods.

MBY's engineers performed the structural analysis and calculations of the building, with the seismic safety assessment conducted per the 2007 Turkish Earthquake Code.

The work balanced seismic performance, earthquake safety and restoration principles together — favouring reversible interventions that respect the historic fabric.
