Seismic safety for automation systems on steel mezzanines.
H&M Ridge Cheb Logistics Facility
MBY provided seismic engineering services for the H&M logistics facility in Cheb, Czech Republic, supporting the installation of automated material handling systems on steel mezzanines. Our scope included the seismic assessment of equipment, mezzanines and their interaction with the primary building structure, ensuring that seismic forces generated by the automated systems were safely transferred to the reinforced concrete building and supporting steel structures in accordance with Eurocode 8.
Advanced finite element models were developed for both the equipment and supporting steel structures to capture their dynamic behaviour and interaction under seismic loading. Based on iterative engineering analyses, we designed optimized seismic bracing systems and connection details that satisfied structural performance requirements while remaining fully coordinated with architectural, MEP and operational constraints. The final deliverables included comprehensive structural calculations, connection designs, clash-free 3D models and fabrication drawings, enabling the safe integration of complex automation systems within the facility.
