The reinforced concrete foundation of a Mach 0.2–4.0 facility.
Trisonic Wind Tunnel — TÜBİTAK SAGE
MBY delivered the reinforced concrete foundation design for the Trisonic Wind Tunnel facility at the TÜBİTAK SAGE Campus in Ankara, Türkiye. The foundation was engineered to support a highly specialized blow-down wind tunnel operating at speeds ranging from Mach 0.2 to Mach 4.0, requiring exceptional structural stiffness, stability and precise control of differential settlements to ensure the reliable performance of sensitive testing equipment.
The engineering design considered the interaction between the massive reinforced concrete foundation, geotechnical conditions and seismic loading in accordance with US Codes and Turkish Codes and relevant international standards. Advanced structural analyses were performed to verify strength, serviceability and long-term durability, resulting in a robust foundation system capable of supporting demanding aerodynamic research and testing operations under stringent performance requirements.
