The project involved a comprehensive structural engineering assessment of a solar energy tower supporting two high-capacity technological receivers. Our scope included evaluating the existing steel support structure and reinforced concrete tower to verify their structural adequacy under operational loading conditions. Through engineering calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and concept validation studies, we assessed load transfer mechanisms, structural behaviour, and dynamic performance while identifying opportunities for design optimisation and improved efficiency.
The assessment was carried out in accordance with relevant European design standards, focusing on structural safety, durability, and long-term operational reliability. The study included a review of the existing concept, evaluation of alternative structural solutions where appropriate, and the preparation of a concept design report summarising the feasibility of the proposed system together with key engineering recommendations. The outcome provided the client with an independent technical basis for advancing the project into the detailed design stage with confidence.
