An exceptionally slender stainless-steel structure for the 17th Istanbul Biennial.
Golden Horn in Golden Horn — Public Art Installation
Provided structural engineering services for Golden Horn in Golden Horn which is designed by Ayşe Erkmen, a stainless-steel public art installation commissioned for the 17th Istanbul Biennial. The project required the development of an exceptionally slender structural system that preserved the artist's vision while ensuring structural safety, stability and long-term durability.
The engineering scope included structural modelling, wind and seismic analyses, design of steel members, welded connections, anchorage systems and reinforced concrete foundations. Particular attention was given to controlling deflections and maintaining the sculpture's elegant appearance by minimising the visual impact of the supporting structure while meeting all structural performance requirements.
