The steel roof of therapeutic housing units on a hospital campus.
Bellevue Hospital — Steel Roof System
MBY provided structural engineering services for the roof steel system of the Outposted Therapeutic Housing Units at Bellevue Hospital in New York, USA. Our scope included the structural analysis and design of the roof purlins, supporting steel members and connection details in accordance with ASCE 7-16, IBC 2018 and AISC 360, ensuring that the roof structure satisfied the project's strength, stability and serviceability requirements.
Advanced structural analyses were performed to evaluate the roof framing under gravity, wind, snow and seismic loading conditions, together with the verification of steel member capacities and connection performance. The engineering solution delivered an efficient and robust roof support system that balanced structural performance, constructability and long-term durability while integrating seamlessly with the hospital's steel superstructure.
